UTICA, NY – The National Distance Running Hall of Fame announced that is will be suspending the induction of the seventh class due to conflicts with the U.S. Olympic Trials for Track and Field is held in Sacramento, CA starting on July 9th. Many of our Athletes will be traveling to Sacramento and then on to Athens for the Olympic Games which will begin on August 13th. “Hall of Fame Weekend” has always been the second weekend in July and would be on July 10th and 11th this year. In fact the Boilermaker Road Race is scheduled for July 11th.
Due to the conflict in the times for the Hall of Fame Weekend and the Trials, we will suspend an induction ceremony for the National Distance Running all of Fame this year. We will continue to invite past inductees and other VIP’s to join us for all of the weekend festivities, including the 27th Running of the Nation’s largest 15K Road Race – the Boilermaker.
Some Hall of Fame Inductees will be participating in Boilermaker Events. For an example Kathrine Switzer and Bill Rogers will be featured panelist at the CDPHP (Capital District Physician’s Health Plan) Runners’ Forum – Ask the Experts.
